Uthsober Upohar

Durga Puja is more than a festival in Bengal — it's a feeling. But for many, financial hardship means they can only watch the celebrations from the sidelines. Uthsober Upohar makes sure the joy of Puja is shared by all.

The problem

The dhakis whose drums bring the Puja alive, and thousands of families across the Dhupguri block, often cannot afford new clothes for the festival.

Our response

As Debipaksha begins, we honour the dhakis with new clothes for them and their families — then reach across the block so children and elders alike can wear something new with pride.

Who we reach

Dhakis and their families; children, women and elderly people across the Dhupguri block.

How it works

Simple. Direct. Together.

  1. 01

Supporters from across the world contribute towards festival clothing.

  2. 02

New clothes are gifted first to 200+ dhakis and their families at the start of Debipaksha.

  3. 03

Distribution then continues across the Dhupguri block to 3,000–3,500 people.
