Nourishing Hope in the Tea Gardens

Abol Tabol — meaning 'joyfully unconventional' — is committed to ensuring no tea garden worker or family goes hungry. We cook, care and connect.

The problem

Remote tea garden communities in the Dooars face chronic food insecurity, especially when gardens close or wages stall.

Our response

Mobile food kitchens, community nourishing hubs built with worker cooperatives, seasonal feast festivals and health & nutrition education.

Who we reach

Tea garden workers and their families in the Jalpaiguri district.

How it works

Simple. Direct. Together.

  1. 01

Mobile kitchens arrive at dawn with hot rice, dal, vegetables and lentils.

  2. 02

Community Nourishing Hubs offer safe spaces to share meals and support.

  3. 03

Festivals turn kitchens into Seasonal Feast Festivals with cultural performances.

  4. 04

Health & nutrition education for families.
